UNIVERSITY OF LJUBLJANA, FACULTY OF ARTS, GEOGRAPHY DEPARTMENT

WHO WE ARE

The Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana is a founding member of the University of Ljubljana and has been educating students since 1919. It is the largest of all faculties in Slovenia, both in terms of the number of students and the number of courses offered by its 21 departments. Most study programs can be combined within the so-called two-subject study format, which is another speciality and advantage of studying at the Faculty of Arts. The faculty educates students and creates top-level academics with an open and critical mind regarding the humanities, social science and educating teachers in these fields. Special attention is placed on the strengthening of disciplines of national importance that co-create the Slovenian identity. The faculty fosters scientific research work, opens new scientific fields, develops interdisciplinarity and introduces new study programmes for its students. Deriving from the freedom of scientific research, it sees to scientific development in all fields for which experts are trained. Students are facilitated in taking advantage of their talents and in achieving the goals they have set for their careers.

WHY WE ARE PARTICIPATING IN THE PROJECT

The Faculty of Arts strives to achieve excellence and the highest quality and to meet the highest ethical standards in all areas of the social sciences and humanities. In addition, it enables students to use their talents and achieve their career goals. By participating in the project, we want to further strengthen the fields of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We want to follow and implement good practices on all levels to enable all students equal study conditions. Our goal is to develop inclusive educational environment that would provide equal opportunities for all, regardless of social status, gender, sexual orientation, ethnical, religious, or cultural background, physical ability and inabilities and identity.

OUR ROLE IN THE PROJECT

The Faculty of Arts will be involved in all phases of the project. The largest role in the project will be in WP2, where it will work in close cooperation with the University of Belgrade to develop the methodology for the study of good practice cases. It will assist in the development of the questionnaire and provide technical support for the creation of the e-questionnaire. It is also one of the three universities where the results of the project will be tested and used to develop guidelines for the development of inclusion, equity and diversity offices.
